One Photo A Day... There are two portrait photographers, both are no longer with us, whose work I love more than anyone else s on earth. Diane Arbus and Robert Maplethorpe. If you've never heard of them or seen their work, do yourself a favor and take a look. Be warned though, they were pioneers in the unusual, so in other words, not all their work may not be appropriate for young kids. The photograph below is my homage to the Diane Arbus style portrait. It's simple, it's beautiful but, there is something a little off. You can't quite put your finger on it, but you know it's something. I truly believe, that if you are going to be a serious photographer, no matter what kind, you should know the history of your photo genre.
